Billericay Under 8's take to the field for their first match.

Billericay Under 8's travelled to Chelmsford for their first ever match on Sunday (11/04/10) against their Chelmsford counterparts. Having been training together for almost two seasons most of the players still admitted to being very nervous before the start but from the off Billericay took the game to Chelmsford and scored with their very first possession. You could tell by the celebration that the nerves were banished.
For the rest of the first half Billericay put in to practice everything that they had learnt during the past months. Some fantastic inter passing, support and straight running, keeping the ball alive even when being pushed back by the Chelmsford defence and a firm defence of their own, Billericay reached half time 4 tries to 1 up. Chelmsford came back in to the game in the second half but Billericay held firm to win by 7 tries to 4.
After a ten minute break the teams took to the field for a second match. Some more superb rugby was shown by the new side, their confidence showing from their first ever win a few minutes earlier. Billericay again took the game to Chelmsford and attacked the spaces out wide where as Chelmsford attacked up the middle,hard and fast but this game also finished in Billericay's favour 9 tries to 5.
